چکیده

Tibial stress fractures in young athletes most commonly occur in the proximal and middle thirds of the bone along the medial aspect.1,2 The orientation of tibial stress fractures usually is transverse, although longitudinal3 and spiral4 patterns have been reported. Less common tibial stress fractures have been described in the anterior diaphyseal cortex,5-7 posterior diaphyseal and metaphyseal cortices,8 lateral plateau,9 and medial malleolus.10 When treated by activity cessation with or without casting in young patients, tibial stress fractures typically heal without sequelae. Midanterior stress fractures are an exception, and often become chronic, with nonoperative management proving unsuccessful.11 This article presents a stress fracture of the tibial tubercle in a skeletally mature patient. Internal fixation was ultimately used to alleviate pain and allow expeditious return to competitive sport.

Determination of the Best Method of Tibial Nail Length Estimation in Patients with Tibia Fracture

Background & Aims: Tibia fractures are the most common long bone fracture. Due to minimal soft tissue and its blood supply, inadequate treatment of injuries could be a major cause of morbidity and disability. The intramedullary nail is the preferred method of treatment; however, despite all previous studies, no accurate method to measure nail length prior to surgery exists as yet. Due to the im...
